Bliss Meditation

If you are familiar with Kundalini, you will no doubt be familiar with the use of the Serpent to describe this energy and power. 

Kundalini is often equated to a coiled serpent lying asleep at the base of spine, which, then with the practice of Kundalini Yoga, is awakened and made to rise up to the crown of the head.

In addition to this analogy, increased encounters with serpents are also often reported by those in the midst of a Kundalini Awakening.

 These encounters don't necessarily have to be with the real live snakes. These reports generally indicate that there is just a greater presence of snakes in their lives all of sudden, in the form of pictures, dreams, conversations, TV shows, books, etc.

There are also the more incredible stories regarding snakes, especially cobras, and those with awakened Kundalini. An example of this is the cobra that would often visit U.G. Krishnamurti at night at his house.  This cobra would hiss and bang at the door and in general make a lot of ruckus and not stop until he was taken for a night walk by UG himself.

So it should not be surprising that there are many Kundalini Yoga Meditations that focus on using the serpent to help awaken Kundalini.  Below I would like to detail one such potent meditation, for which I have to thank Swami Satyananda Saraswati for sharing it with the world.




Serpent Bliss Meditation To Awaken Kundalini

To practice this meditation follow the step by step instructions below.

1. Sit comfortably with your legs crossed. If you cannot sit with your legs crossed, then you may sit on a chair.

2. Have your spine straight, relax your stomach and then close your eyes.

3. Bring your attention to your breath and allow it naturally slow down. This may take a few minutes to happen.

4. Now bring your awareness to the base of your spine and visualize yourself breathing from there. As you inhale and exhale, visualize the breath coming into and leaving this area. Continue for a few minutes to establish your awareness there.

5. Once you feel concentrated enough, visualize a small black cylinder (lingam with the top cut off) at the base of spine.  And visualize a small baby red snake (not a cobra) coiled around this lingam looking up with the mouth open.




6. Once this picture is clear, visualize the serpent struggling to rise up the spine and straining in it's effort to do so. As it struggles to rise, it makes an intense hissing sound.

7. When the serpent rises, visualize its mouth to be as wide as your body and as it rises, it's body stretches up, but tail remains at the base of the spine coiled around the lingam.

8. This serpent's body will often rise and then fall back during the meditation, but the lingam coiled by the tail will stay fixed. Continue the meditation in this way.

9. Success with this meditation is indicated by the eruption or great feeling of bliss, with the rising of the serpent.  It can also happen that the lingam and serpent will move to various chakras along the spine, and if that was to happen continue the visualization using this new location as the base.



The meditation above incorporates many important aspects of Kundalini Tantra and Kriya Yoga and it's practice can help in developing many of the important skills needed to practice such meditations. 





The meditation helps you develop the power of concentration, the power of visualization, chakra awareness, channel (nadi) awareness and refines your awareness.

In addition, it helps you develop the ability to bring your breath and prana into various parts of the body, allowing you to cleanses your chakra and nadi system. And finally, it gives you a taste of the power of Kundalini Shakti.

If you are new to such meditations, give yourself some time in mastering it.




One final note. Often when you do such meditations, you may not feel the affects right away, but as the meditation clears blockages in your Chakras and opens up your energy pathways, at quiet times you may suddenly feel the effects of this kind of practice as energy is suddenly released and your mind opens up to new levels of consciousness.

Ancient Health Tips to Manage your Acid Reflux, Bloating, Heart Burn and Indigestion

Ayurveda is an ancient Indian, holistic medical practice. Ayurveda is all about creating a balance through the use of natural herbs, food and exercise

Lifestyle changes and herbal treatments consisting of one or several herbs in combination are the hallmark of Ayurvedic treatment for acid reflux.
Try to avoid high-stress situations and practice stress management techniques.

Enjoy natural beauty. The appreciation of natural beauty helps to balance sadhaka pitta and reduces stress.



Favor cooling foods and drinks such as fresh coconut juice
Use an electric drill to make a hole in the coconut and use a straw to sip on the coconut juice. Use the fresh coconut meat in your vegetables, rice dishes, or chutneys. If you feel discomfort during the day, take a few sips of cool milk on an empty stomach.










Fresh aloe vera gel straight from the leaf is balancing.
Avoid the store bought juice as citric acid is used as a preservative and it is too acidic if you suffer from acid indigestion.



Pomegranate juice and pomegranate chutney also help balance the acid in the stomach. It tastes sour but it is actually both astringent and bitter, which help balance pitta.


Baked fennel seeds are also recommended to help settle the stomach and balance digestion. Eat 1/4 teaspoon of baked fennel seeds 3 times a day between meals.



Organic Rose Water or mint lassi is good to drink with a meal as they are cooling and sweet to taste. Favor astringent, bitter, and sweet tastes in your diet. Split mung dahl, green leafy vegetables, grains, watermelon, honeydew melon, lettuce, mangos, and spices such as fenugreek seeds, coriander, cardamom, and mint should be included in your daily diet.






HOME REMEDY: 
Cumin Seed Powder - 1 tsp.,
Coriander Seed Powder -  1/2 tsp., 
SUGAR  - 1/2 tsp., 
Cardamom (Ground) - 1/8 tsp., 
WATER  - 1/2 Cup 
Take this mixture 2 to 3 TIMES a day. – Makes a BIG Difference. 



FOOD TO AVOID: No Tomatoes (Any form Fresh, Sauce, Canned etc.), No Okra, No Egg Plants, No Potatoes and No Mushrooms. No Fried Foods, No Wheat Products, No Dairy Products, No Cold Drinks & Soda and No Salad (No Raw Vegetables).

FOOD TO ENJOYPlenty of Vegetables and Specially Green Leafy Vegetables except the Vegetables mentioned above. Please make sure All Vegetables are Completely Cooked.

Moong Dal (Moong Soup) and all forms such as Whole Moong, Split Moong, and Yellow Moong should be consumed daily.

You may prepare Breads, Chapatti and Roti using SPELT FLOUR instead of Wheat.

In Dairy Category – Avoid all types of Cheese, Especially Old and aged variety. On the other hand, you may enjoy Fresh Cheese such as Cottage Cheese, Fresh Mozzarella and Indian Paneer. No Yogurt.  


Additional Home Remedies:

Taking lemon juice in warm water three times a day improves digestion.


Chewing a piece of raw ginger (about one gram) with rock salt or common salt is good. This should be taken about five minutes before each meal.

Drinking buttermilk is very beneficial to improve the digestion. It should be taken at the end of a meal. It is better to mix some roasted cumin seeds and a little rock salt or common salt in this.
Drinking plain soda water gives immediate relief with symptoms like wind, distended stomach and acidity.
Eating about three grams of anise seeds improves digestion.

Sleeping during the day, especially after lunch is prohibited as it produces indigestion. The patient should not stay awake late in the night. He should be free from mental stress, anxiety, fear and grief.
